Daijers Miscellaneous Thoughts of the Month

2025-10-12T16:00:00

This is a collection of my personal notes, ideas and what I have learned in September.

I started volunteering at a comic book store. It was fun… like I wasn’t expecting it to be that enriching but it was a really memorable experience. I learned a lot about comic books… It was my new passion recently but I feel under-qualified and I kinda want to know more about the DC universe and the history of comic books generally. I fell in love with Young Justice. I tend to separate my shipping and fandom thoughts from my opinion of the quality of a piece of media so if you want my fandom opinions they are only on Tumblr.

I like YJ98 excluding all my shipping not because of it. I love Anita and Cissies’ kinship by the end of the series, how it treated Cissies' retirement. I loved Superboy and Cassies relationship. See I don’t understand the young people terms in shipping I can think that the writing of a relationship is solid without shipping it. I think its good and I like it. It’s in the context of the expanded info I have I have a more nuanced opinion on the nature of some relationships. YJ98 is just generally really good character and adventure wise. Me liking Superboy and Cassies' relationship may just be because she’s my favourite yj character. Also who has custody of the supercycle? Is it T. Drake? Does it count as a meta… I still have so much to learn.

My favourite DC character is Superboy for god knows why.

The comic book store was so fun. My boss is so cool and the people I met who worked there were all chill. 10/10 will go back every holiday.

I read some recommendations from za boss; of which was Preacher. Genuinely great, unfortunately not for the easily offended, it’s a really fun dark comedy and a product of its time.

So if you are sensitive to slurs, casual racism… etc it’s probably not for you. A piece of media however is a sum of it’s parts so with any piece of art that has nuance treat it with respect and see the good parts of it.

The story was so damn coool. It’s like that meme where it’s like “do you think god stays in heaven out of fear of what he created?” but inverted on it head, this bitch dipped.

I think I’m just generally a fan of stupid high octane comedic nonsense because I love Lobo too.

Another contradiction to my anti-stereotype of a personality. I wonder if I’m a curveball in human form?

I don’t think I’ll read the Absolute series, it looks really cool but I’m too depressed I need camp, I also avoid ongoing series like the plague, I enjoy conclusive and circular stories.

I watched Superman in August but I will still share my thoughts. FUN, holy. I call Mr. Corenswent, Unc because gramps is too rude and he is like your older, really, passionate co-worker. He just really likes Star Wars. Like awesome nerdy Dad energy, Gott bless.

Rachel Brosnahan however, I would absolutely smoke weed with. amen.

The movie was good its like what a classic superhero flix should be.

What sold me on watching it in the first place was the Brittany Broski interview, I was like “He’s so private school, literally me”. I knew I would enjoy it. And this is my summary of the Rick Glassman interview.

who wins star wars or weed

Why am I not mentioning old man Nick… fellow British people shall not be acknowledged further.

Other miscellaneous thoughts: "You act like a person who thinks that we are living in a time past history has happened, wrong history is always happening, it’s going to continue happening. Don’t live your life behaving like every mistake that can be made has been made, or every accomplishment that has been achieved has been achieved."

"The natural variation of the human experience makes this ultimate system a failure, no matter what universe you place a set if characters or distinct individuals in, it will be perceived as a utopia or dystopia depending on the position those individuals hold in such a society and the advantages and disadvantages the pre-existing system advertises. Therefore, no matter what status the societies economic and political system holds, something has to give. This however is a very depressing view of reality and I think it is certainly cynical, I personally subscribe to the rule of thought that no matter what disadvantaged system exists, its human nature to improve the state of the world you live in for you and your kin, may it be systematically or community wide. Any human designed system can be adapted and changed, for it was designed by something that can be adapted and changed. TLDR: Someone is always failed in a system, but 🫵 can change that."

In Summary:

  • Watch Superman
  • Read Young Justice
  • Read Preacher
  • Read Lobo
  • Volunteer

That’s it for August kids, come back next month for some more shower thoughts.
